Last Vet Visit!

Friday night TV time! He sits behind me... what a goof!

Lesson learned ~

So this morning I left my glasses and new magazine laying on the couch. Tartan chewed my glasses and cover of my magazine. Dang!

So good news is my glasses can be replaced and were an older pair. Magazine will still be readable. Just not as pretty on the outside. 

So be aware... don’t leave your glasses where he can reach them! 🤓

Otherwise he’s doing well. Zero potty accidents anymore. Sleeps on the bed. Still should be crated when you leave him (see glasses) and he’s a love bug! 🐞

Walking the trio!!!

So proud he is that he can walk on leash with the others. What a long way Tartan has journeyed!!! 

I’m proud too! 

Sunny Tuesday!

Tried a walk with a friend today. Tartan started hesitant but ended on a trot and waggy tail. I did not put on his harness but do recommend one right now as when he’s not sure he backs up and his collar could easily slide off of him. The more he practices walking on leash the more confident he will be! The best thing is he’s not into pulling or reacting at anything so he’s going to be a JOY to take out n about!!!

Late Monday...

It’s about 10pm and we are all tired. Tartan is up on the bed. I never put on his belly band any more. He seems fine without it and no potty accidents as long as we let him out in intervals. 

His fun side is emerging and he’s starting to steal laundry, tear up paper on the floor he finds and insists on pulling the blanket out of Asti’s crate! He’s got some mischievous ways after all! Ha!!! Tartan does like dog toys of course... especially those hoofs. I think he’s just not sure what’s a toy and what isn’t. Most of the time he’s the perfect pup and wears his angel halo like a champ!!! I’m curious what he will do with a ball. I’ll try that tomorrow. Stay tuned! 

Oh yes... he’s finally discovered dog beds!!! He is off the floor and on the big dog pillow! Starting to live and enjoy the spoiled life!!! So good to see!!! 

I was very busy today with work and other things so we did not get to take a walk. Awww. Maybe tomorrow?!? Stairs have suddenly become easy peasy and that’s such a relief! All in all we hardly notice he’s here... he has melded into the pack and makes for a very relaxing and quiet  foster pup! 

MORNING UPDATE: Tartan tried to jump off of the bed with the others. Royal belly flop. He forgot to use his legs. Thud!!! 😬🙀

He is home with my husband John. Tartan follows him everywhere and is laying at John’s feet while he works on his computer. What a love!!!

Walking the block

Took a video of Tartan taking a walk. He did very well! He’s kinda slow but will most likely speed it up a bit once he’s got a pal with him. It’s always more fun with a friend.

Btw... he learned to jump up and down from the couches today!!! Oh he’s pretty happy about that!!!

Last night with Kix 😢

Last night Tartan slept up on the bed. Now he’s stealing my spot! Haha! You can stay buddy but I’m claiming my pillow!

Hubby is out o town. All pups up on the bed! Pajama party... wait, fur party!!! Everyone is so happy! Even Kixie is up and snuggled in tight. Just when they are doing awesome it’s already adoption day. We all will miss our little bug so much! He is so cute!!!

Tartan inside and out:

1.He’s not a big eater but isn’t fussy either. 

2.Treats do not mean the world to him. Meh! (He has a fav kind though)

3. He cannot jump onto the couch. Or the bed. #shortlegprobs

4. He barks and paws in his crate when I leave. #dontleaveme

5. He barks and paws in his crate when I return. #soexcitedtogetout

6. He likes bones and big ram horns to chew. 

7. He sleeps and snores in his crate in my bedroom. Zzz (a recent trial run up ON my bed proved to be a huge success! He has come a long long way!!!)

8. When he does not want to do something he scurries away! Slowly. 🤣

10. He adores me.  I adore him. 🥰

11. He does not mark or lift his leg much any more. Much I said. 

12. He has a longer nose. Reminds me a bit of a Scottie dog. Cute!!!

13. He has a big ol’ head and soft furred solid body. He’s a white bear cub with a little lamb personality. 

14. He likes to snoop in the yard and likes other dogs to hang with. 

15. He has lots of cute antics. Very endearing personality. 

16. He loves being inside the house. Never stays outside very long. 

17. Where I go. My white shadow goes. 

18. He watches animals on TV and recognizes dogs!

19. He can’t figure out mirrors and walks into them. Oops!

20. I would keep him in a heart beat. ❤️

Soooo Tuesday is my birthday! Facebook gives you an option to have a fund raiser for a non profit. I chose Westie Rescue and ‘so far’ friends have donated $86 dollars. 

I’m very happy about that! 🥰

Update: up to $111 for WWR! 

UPDATE: goal was $200 but my friends gave $221.00!!! 

I’m excited to have reached my goal and that WWR will get some extra ‘green’ in March! 💚

Stairs and more...

Tartan worked on stairs today. Going down! He is doing well and after this video even did more on his own!!! I also gave him a hair cut on his back and he looks so much better! He stood very still for his hair trim! Also last night he slept in the crate in our bedroom! Yay! He is starting to like his crate and now goes in his crate on his own to rest in the kitchen. Go figure!!!?!?

It’s a super gloomy Saturday! I’m inside the house filming this video through my screen door but I wanted you to see what a handsome guy Tartan is! He just ate supper and I have him outside. He still is not fond of going down my 5 stairs to the back yard but we are practicing. Once he’s outside he seems to enjoy himself. I love how adorable he looks in a dog coat! 😍

A friend gave me this dog Lumber Jack hat. It has spots for the ears. Hilarious!!! Of course, I had to try it on Tartan! He was not into it! Haha!!! Even though he sure was cute wearing it. 🐾

I was off work today and we all hung out around the house. It was a great day! He is a love bug who wants lots of petting. He followed the pack to the second floor but can’t go down stairs yet. So I had to carry him down, which is good seeing he needs to take it easy after the neuter. Tartan ate all his food with his new shiny teeth! No fear or reaction to the vacuum cleaner. Even though he’s not into being a hat wearing dog he’s very into being a house dog and he’s doing super in reaching his goal!

Ohhh Tartan... you wait your turn sooo nicely! Not a smidgeon of food aggression with this dude. He is a very giving type of boy. Impeccable manners at the table! If he was drinking tea his pinkie would be out! 💚 (such a gentleman)

Toys!

Tartan has discovered toys!!! He likes to chew bones, ropes and stuffed toys. In this video he’s working on a cow toy. What cracks me up is the little “video bomber” who thinks HE should be in the video too! My little Yorkie foster puppy named Kix. Haha!!! So if you are watching this and are thinking of adopting Tartan... a trip to the doggy toy aisle is a must! Fun fun fun!!! 

Wednesday Happenings...

Starting to be playful!! So GOOD to see!!!

A little trim today before Tartan gets neutered on Thursday! He did not get a full groom but we snuck in a bath, private’s trim, nail clip and face clean up before he can’t get wet for 10 days. Here is a pic of him at the groomers: Claws n Paws!!

Amazing progress!

Is this the same dog who came here last Saturday? I can hardly believe it is but... it IS!!! Tartan who my husband insists on calling Tartar Sauce 😉😂 is making warp speed progress. He’s already one of the gang. He can do stairs going up. He loves the couch. He loves all people. He is not marking much any more. He’s not so smelly. He’s eating. He’s just AMAZING. 

We love our Tartan and know once he is neutered and all fixed up he will be adopted in no time. I mean holy smokes he’s a keeper. 

Now he does still bark in his crate but that’s ok. He has the right to like or not like what he chooses.

Notice no belly band?!? Just a leash on in case we need a quick outside trip. Otherwise he’s catching on super fast!! Oh I’m so excited for this beautiful boy!!

Tartan does this super cute “beg move” when he wants more petting. He loves and craves human attention. Last night he slept on my bedroom floor with his belly band on. He does not like crates and barks. It makes him very anxious to go into a crate. This is common with a mill doggy. 

He was totally fine sleeping on my floor on a blankie...he does snore a bit. Lol!!! 😴

Meet TARTAN! 💙❤️💙

Tartan was born 2/2/12 so he’s a ground hog baby boy! He is now 7 years young and a big Teddy-bear of a Westie! He loves people and other dogs. He was just, yesterday, released from a Mennonite dog mill. He smelled like barn and his teeth are badly in need of cleaning! He has no concept of a house or stairs BUT he is already having no probs adjusting to everything new. He’s so sweet and cuddly and a little nervous too as this is all so new but really... he’s doing GREAT! Tartan is a gentle giant and cuter than a bugs ear! I took some pics... enjoy checking out Tartan and watch his journey unfold!!! 

He had a bath yesterday and he was very cooperative. I’ve brushed him many times to get the hay out of his coat. He loves brushing!!!

Tartan has the cutest smile! He has on a belly band because we don’t want boo boos in the house. I’ll call Monday to set up a vet appointment. He needs to get neutered. He will get his shots and microchip if needed.
